The traditional religious Christmas carol "What Child Is This?" was written in 1865 by William Chatterton Dix while he was on bedrest, recovering from a serious illness. The hymn was put to the traditional English melody, "Greensleeves," and it remains that way today, nearly 150 years later.

The carol has been covered by artists from just about every style of music. The following list covers the most popular versions by Christian and Gospel artists.
