Guide Review - Michael Bolton - 'A Swingin’ Christmas'
Bolton isn't new to Christmas releases either. His first, This Is The Time: The Christmas Album (Compare Prices), came out in 1996, 20 years into his career. The second, Joy to the World (Compare Prices), released in 2002. Now, five years later, he delves into his big band/swing side with A Swingin' Christmas.
Classic tunes like "White Christmas," "Let It Snow," "Silent Night" and "Joy To The World" highlight the ten track release, which originally came out last year exclusively for Target stores as an eight song album.
Somehow, on all ten songs, Bolton manages to take an old sound and make it new. For those listeners that remember the Christmas sounds of the 70's, it will be an updated blast from the past. For those of you whose only connection to the 70's is watching reruns of That 70's Show, it will be a sweet and swingin' introduction to a "new" sound.
Bottom line here ... the musicianship is top-notch and, as always, Michael Bolton's vocals can't be beat. A Swingin' Christmas will quickly become a holiday favorite for years to come.
