Barry Im looking at doing another record possibly next year. Im looking to do more concerts because I havent really been touring yet. I plan to continue to produce other artists. I love to produce. I actually started that before I came out with Handprint. People asking me to do piano because they liked the sound of it was how I ended up doing Handprint. It was a request from people or fans or whatever you want to call it. I saw that sometimes its good to listen to people because they may be speaking to you from God. I didnt want to make the record. I wanted to stick to production and positive forums, but God said, No, youre going to do this. And I see that when He says it, He means it because of the outlets Hes given it. It was definitely His will. Somebody asked me in another interview what my vision or goal is and I said To have instrumental music on the same chart as CeCe Winans or Michael W. Smith. Its a celebration now of the vocal artist (and this isnt a complaint), but where is the celebration of psalmists like David? He played the harp. I want to see that in the same place as other artists. I want to help bring other instrumental artists along. Its good, like you said, sometimes to just sit down and listen to worship. Theres nothing wrong with worship without words. God uses people to make change. You get used to the same people all of the time. Im not complaining, but you hear the same names over and over. On the Gospel side youve got Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Smokie Norful. On the other side youve got Steven Curtis Chapman, Casting Crowns, MercyMe, Jeremy Camp, Michael W. Smith - and you can name them and its just them. But behind them are so many people that are looking to rise up. I like what Michael W. Smith said when he said that he was honored by the nominations, but he felt like he needed to take a seat and let other people come up and do this. I was really happy that he said that.
