MercyMe Starter Songs

Top songs from Christian band MercyMe

By , About.com Guide

I think that pretty much everyone on the planet over the age of 10 has heard MercyMe's "I Can Only Imagine" since it did spend 11 weeks at #1 on Billboard, played on Christian radio as well as mainstream stations and has been covered by Christian artists and country artists alike. But what about other great MercyMe tunes that didn't get quite as much airplay? If you're a new MercyMe fan and want to start out your collection with some great compliments to the 2002 Dove Awards Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year, why not try these?

"I Would Die For You" (Acoustic)

Written by Brent Higgins in honor of his son B.J. Higgins, "I Would Die For You" is one of those songs that rips your heart out while it humbles you in a huge way.

From the Song:

My life has never been this clear
Now I know the reason why I'm here
You never know why You're alive
Until you know what you would die for
I would die for You

"Call To Worship"

INO

From the album that put MercyMe on the Christian music map, "Call to Worship" is just what the title says - a call to worship the one who created it all.

From the Song:

I will worship the one who calmed the raging sea
I will worship the one who hushed the rage in me
I will worship You
I will worship You

"Coming Up To Breathe"

The title track from the 2006 release is a clever analogy of life itself. You know those days when you feel like you're swimming in an ocean with no shores in sight and you just need to find the time to breathe?

From the Song:

I'm in way too deep
I've forgotten how to swim
I can't tell which way is up or down
Save me before I drown down here
I just need some air

"Undone"

MercyMe - UndoneINO

The title track from the band's Dove Award winning third release reminds us that in our weakness, God's glory shines through so being "undone" is not a bad thing at all.

From the Song:

To the cross I run
Holding high my chains undone
Now I am finally free
Free to be what I've become
Undone

"You're To Blame" (Acoustic)

Our goodness doesn't come from some deep and hidden well of "warm and fuzzy" DNA; it comes from the Cross and MercyMe nails that point in "You're To Blame."

From the Song:

You are to blame for anything that is good in my heart
You are to blame for this change that has taken me by storm
