Focused on developing new markets for independent artists and labels, the MRG awarded the honor based entirely on artistic merit, as judged by a panel of established artists and industry professionals.
In addition to being featured in the 2005 edition of Musicians Atlas, MRGs annual directory connecting all areas of music business, Circleslides Home will be included on a Summer CD compilation of winners from each category. The IMA Winners CD will be distributed to music journalists, commercial and public radio stations and industry insiders. Circleslide will additionally receive increased exposure as the IMA Winners CD will be distributed by three-time IMA co-sponsor, Borders Books & Music.
Circleslide is currently in the studio completing its national debut, Uncommon Days, releasing later this spring. The album will further highlight Home and three more songs from its acclaimed EP release, Connectology, which sparked interest from several labels before the band signed with independent label, Centricity.
Circleslide first hit the industry spotlight at the Gospel Music Associations annual Music in the Rockies event in Estes Park, Colorado where they placed No. 1 in the Contemporary Christian Band category in the 2003 national competition. Playing more than 200 dates per year throughout the U.S., Circleslides live performances earned a slot on 2004s ShoutFest Tour with Rachael Lampa, TAIT, Petra, ZOEgirl, Jump5 and others. In addition to weekend concerts at churches, the band books performances throughout the week at bars and clubs, utilizing these venues as an outreach by inviting patrons to hear them perform at local churches. On occasion they have also had the pastors attend the club and bar shows.
