Kingsmen Announce Changes

By Kim Jones, About.com Guide

Oct 11 2005
Ray Reese, Kingsmen owner and manager, has announced that longtime baritone and musician, Tim Surrett, has resigned his position with the Kingsmen. On the advice of his physicians, Tim needs to cut back on his vocal use. His plans for the future include session work and at a later time, a solo ministry which would have a less demanding schedule.

The Kingsmen, while saddened at the departure of Tim, understand his situation and are praying for whatever the future holds for him. As far as the Kingsmen are concerned, Tim will always be considered a vital part of the Kingsmen Quartet history.

Ray also announces that the baritone position will be filled by Tony Peace, formerly of the Wilburns and the Palmetto State Quartet immediately. The Kingsmen are looking forward to this new addition as fans of Southern Gospel Music all know what a contribution Tony makes to a group.

Ray says, “We feel that the Lord has worked this situation out the way He always does...to the benefit of all who are involved.” He asks that fans and friends continue to support Tim, Tony and the Kingsmen in their prayers as they all go forward in the plans that the Lord has for each of them.
