Third Day Formed::
The band formed in 1991 in Marietta, Georgia.
Third Day Biography:
The Atlanta-based rockers have 28 #1 singles, 10 gold albums, two platinum albums, four Grammy Awards and 24 of the GMA's Dove Awards to their credit and they've sold over 7 million albums. When Powell and Lee started Third Day back in '91 (Tai Anderson and David Carr joined in '93; Avery in '95), they were right of out college and still holding down day jobs. They had a van, a dream and a passion for music. Chances are pretty good that they no had idea that Billboard magazine would eventually call them "not only one of the best Christian bands of the '90s but one of the best rock bands, period."
Their 12 releases have contained modern rock, techno sounds, Southern rock and even praise & worship music, with two worship albums — Offerings and Offerings II — going platinum and gold, respectively. But even with all of the different styles and sounds, one thing has remained constant ... their passion to share the hope and salvation of Christ through their music.
