Signature Word Records Artists

Christian Record Label Profile

Christian record label Word Records has always had a strong artist roster but some of their artists (both past and present) stand head and shoulders above the rest.

1. Point Of Grace

Point of Grace - 2008
Since the beginning, Point of Grace has been a staple on the Word label. After coming together at Ouachita Baptist University, the ladies quickly caught the attention of Word Records executives. Since being signed, Point of Grace has sold more than five million albums, won 9 Dove Awards and received two GRAMMY nods. They’ve also earned 2 platinum and 7 gold albums and have seen 27 of their songs go to #1 at Christian radio.

2. Mark Schultz

Mark Schultz has always been with Word Records, sharing his passion and his incredible talent through 4 albums and 2 CD/DVDs. He has been nominated for several Dove Awards, winning his first one in 2006 for Long Form Music Video of the Year Dove Awards (Mark Schultz Live: A Night of Stories & Songs). The same CD/DVD has gone both Gold and Platinum.

3. Nicole C. Mullen

Nicole C. Mullen - 2007
Word Records

Nicole C. Mullen was signed to Word Records in 1998, releasing her 3rd album on the label after 2 indie releases. Since then, she has won 8 Dove awards and seen one album go Gold. Nicole also holds the distinction of being the only African-American artist to win the Dove for the Song of the Year.

In her "free time," Nicole is a wife and mom of three. She is also a businesswoman who designs her own clothing line and she is someone who gives of herself where others fall short. She has worked to help free the Trokosi slaves held captive in Ghana, West Africa, and for more than a dozen years she has ministered to young girls through her Baby Girls Club, an organization that mentors young women.

4. Building 429

Building 429 was formed by lead singer Jason Roy while he was still in college. After playing nearly 200 shows a year as an indie band, the group's "lucky break" came in 2003, when they joined SONICFLOOd on tour. They got plenty of national exposure and were snatched up by Word Records. Their debut single, "Glory Defined," topped eight separate charts and was named BMI's Christian Song of the Year, while the band went on to win the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year.

5. Diamond Rio

Diamond Rio
Though they haven't been with Word for very long, (they signed on August 31, 2007), Diamond Rio offers the type of excellence that Word has become known for.

The history of the band is a rich one. While with Arista, they won the Academy of Country Music's award for Top Vocal Group in 1991 and 1992. In 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1997, they also won the Country Music Association's award for Vocal Group of the Year. The band has received thirteen GRAMMY nominations and they have seen 8 of their albums go Gold and 3 go Platinum.

There is no doubt that the kudos will continue to flow for this talented band.
