Hailing from the Bay Area of Northern California, Undefiled is a band of four young guys with music is that is hard, edgy, passionate, and uncompromising. Lead singer, Nick Lemau, shares his thoughts on Halloween.

"I personally do not celebrate Halloween and here are my thoughts on this holiday...

I agree with you 100% that this world is the devils playground and he is not limited to one day a year to run amuck!

Every Halloween I can't help but notice how so many people are blinded by the commercialism of this holiday. The world has made Halloween to be a fun and innocent holiday; unfortunately that is not the truth. The roots of this holiday are very evil and for some people it has a dark meaning and purpose.

When I was about four years old my parents became Christians, and my earliest memory of Halloween was around that time. My parents took me out and I remember seeing people dressed up in costumes, some were dressed like witches and vampires some even dressed up like the devil. All I remember was that I felt scared and I did not have a good time. I felt very uneasy and all I wanted to do is go home. So as a child I remember having a fear of Halloween more than anything.

Now when I was older and I was no longer scared of those things, I had a curiosity about this holiday. I wanted to know why churches did not celebrate it and what was so bad about it. At this time I did not see anything wrong with it. I thought it was just a night where you dressed up and you got a truck load of candy. During this time my parents were involved with youth ministry. One night the youth pastor showed a video called: Halloween Trick or Treat?. It was one movie from a series of videos called The Pagan Invasion. (I highly recommend this movie to people who have questions about Halloween.)

This video showed me a whole side of Halloween that I was totally unaware of. I honestly have to say that it changed my views completely. So if there are people who worship God, then it would make sense that there are people who worship Satan. As I watched this movie I learned that there are people in this world who are indeed practicing Satanist and that Halloween is considered a very high holy day for them. As I listened to an interview by a man whose parents were Satanist he talked about his memories as a child and what Halloween was for him. He talked about a time when he witnessed a little girl being killed and offered as a sacrifice to Satan. There is another interview with a woman who had belonged to the satanic church and is now a Christian, she talked about a time when she was at a meeting with other Satanist and she witnessed a woman bring her newborn baby to the priest and he killed the baby and offered the baby as a sacrifice to Satan. I know that some of this stuff is a bit much to handle, but it is what goes on and people have no idea. There is more information in this video that offers further explanation of what takes place on this holiday. It is true that these things can take place anytime of any day, but Halloween is a day that is set aside for these satanic practices. Since I have knowledge of these things it is hard for me to support this holiday. I encourage people to look behind the mask of this holiday and educate themselves. Study the roots of Halloween and you will find out that it is not just about candy and dressing up.

Now as far as churches go, I do not have a problem with them having an alternative for kids to go to. As a matter of fact, my band and I have played at different concerts on Halloween. I do believe that if a church is going to have a harvest night or some type of alternative, there should be some form of gospel message shared. I feel that if there is no message or prayer then there is no difference between the church and the world. I personally will not play a concert on Halloween unless there is someone to share the gospel or they allow me share it. We as Christians are called to be salt and light of the world, and on a dark holiday like Halloween we need to step up."
