Top Christian Songs For the Week Ending July 22, 2012

By

This week, MercyMe has two singles in the Top 10 - one at #1 and one new song. The popular band is joined by Matthew West, Big Daddy Weave, Rachael Lampa and Newworldson, all artists with their own new songs that are making waves.

The official Top Christian Hits Chart is compiled by checking and averaging Christian charts and top play lists from all over the U.S. such as Billboard, Cashbox and Air 1 to find the most popular songs.

1. "The Hurt & The Healer" - MercyMe

MercyMe - The Hurt & The Healer
Provident

In week #21, the title track from MercyMe's latest release has spent six weeks at #1. This is a powerful song that reminds us that no matter how deep our wounds are and no matter how horrible the pain is, God can heal it all.

2. "10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)" - Matt Redman

In week #5 and moving up from #3, "10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)" comes to us from last summer's 10,000 Reasons. With roots in Psalm 103, the impressive song has an unpolished feel that brings a raw passion to the table.

3. "Me Without You" - tobyMac

tobyMac - Me Without You
Forefront Records

After debuting three weeks ago at #6, "Me Without You" shot to the top, and though it has slipped a bit this week, I don't think it's on the way off the chart by any stretch. The song is from tobyMac's upcoming August release, Eye On It. When "Me Without You" hit the radio in late May, it was the most-added single on Christian AC and CHR radio for the week.

4. "Live Like That" - Sidewalk Prophets

Sidewalk Prophets - Live Like That
Fervent Records/Word

In week #6, the title track from Live Like That is holding firm in the #4 spot. This majestic song puts Jesus in the spotlight and tells listeners that He is who we should try to emulate - not the world.

5. "Forgiveness" - Matthew West

Matthew West - Forgiveness
Sparrow Records

Debuting this week, "Forgiveness" is off of Matthew West's upcoming September release. As we, as a nation, mourn the Aurora tragedy, this song is timely to say the least.

6. "The Proof of Your Love" - for KING & COUNTRY

for King & Country - Crave
Fervent Records/Word

In week #4, "The Proof of Your Love" is the second radio single from for KING & COUNTRY's debut album, Crave. This incredibly powerful song is a prayer, an anthem and a testimony that was written based on 1 Corinthians 13.

7. "Redeemed" - Big Daddy Weave

Big Daddy Weave - Love Come To Life
Fervent Records/Word

This beautiful ballad is hitting the Top 10 for the first time this week. The second radio single from Love Come To Life, the acoustic treatment gives a solid background to absolute truth.

8. "You Are I Am" - MercyMe

MercyMe - The Hurt & The Healer
Provident

Debuting this week, the second radio single from The Hurt & The Healer reminds us that Jesus is the one who "conquers giants" and "calls out kings."

9. "No Escape" - Rachael Lampa

220 Entertainment

Our next song is another newcomer to the chart and the single from All We Need offers quirky fun with lyrics that will touch your heart.

10. "Today" - Newworldson

Newworldson - Rebel Transmission
Platinum Pop

Our last song is another new tune - the worship ballad and second radio single from Rebel Transmission. I haven't heard a Newworldson song that I don't like, but there are plenty that I really, really like. "Today" is one such song.
