The official Top 10 Christian hit songs list is compiled by your Guide by checking and averaging Christian charts from all over the U.S. such as Billboard and R&R.
Casting Crowns and Chris Tomlin sit on top in the Top 10 for the week ending February 10, 2008. The GRAMMYs may not recognize Casting Crowns as a winner, but we sure do.
1. East to West - Casting Crowns
This beautiful song, off of the latest Casting Crowns release, The Altar and The Door, is one of my favorites. The usual fare from Casting Crowns, "East to West" boasts deep, meaningful lyrics, a perfect blend on the vocals and sterling musicianship. After only four weeks in the Top 10, this song moved up to number one and it stayed there for 19 weeks until dipping for two weeks. Now it's back on top, proving that you can't keep a good song down.
2. Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) - Chris Tomlin
Chris Tomlin puts a new spin on a classic hymn by adding the very powerful praise chorus "My Chains Are Gone." As always, Chris does a fine job of bringing a classic to the fore-front of the 21st Century.
3. God With Us - MercyMe
Think Casting Crowns' "Who Am I" and you'll get an idea of the theme behind "God With Us."
- Who are we that You would be mindful of us what do...
MercyMe has hit the bulls-eye again with this first single off of their latest album, All That Is Within Me. This week it holds firm at number 3.
4. You Are Everything - Matthew West
Staying put at number 4, this song is a hit for West. Off of the new release, Something To Say, Matthew West has a great deal to say after successful vocal cord surgery. This album isn't simply food for thought ... it's food for your spirit.
5. For The Love Of The Game - Pillar
"For The Love Of The Game," which debuted 4 weeks ago, is the title track off of the upcoming (Feb., 2008) release. One word description for this tune .... Rocks!. Want more? OK - Rocks Hard!
6. "In Better Hands" - Natalie Grant
From the upcoming February 12, 2008 release, Relentless, the piano-driven "In Better Hands" is soft-spoken yet powerful, much like the lady herself.
9. Believe - Mainstay
"Believe," which debuted 2 weeks ago, brings us Justin Anderson doing some incredible vocals (not unusual, I know) over more "pop" sounding acoustic music.
10. Carry Me Down - Demon Hunter
"Carry Me Down," which debuted 4 weeks ago, is one of the slower, more melodic songs on Storm The Gates Of Hell. Not typical DH, but not bad either.
