The official Top 10 Christian hit songs list is compiled by your Guide by checking and averaging Christian charts from all over the U.S. such as Billboard and R&R.
MercyMe and Matthew West make this an M & M week. Add some rock to your chocolate with new music from Run Kid Run and Ivoryline and then get into the urban gospel groove with Kirk Franklin.
1. God With Us - MercyMe
Think Casting Crowns' "Who Am I" and you'll get an idea of the theme behind "God With Us."
- Who are we that You would be mindful of us what do...
MercyMe has hit the bulls-eye again with this first single off of their latest album, All That Is Within Me. This week it holds firm at number 3.
2. You Are Everything - Matthew West
Moving up from number 4, this song is a hit for West. Off of the new release, Something To Say, Matthew West has a great deal to say after successful vocal cord surgery. This album isn't simply food for thought ... it's food for your spirit.
5. Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) - Chris Tomlin
Chris Tomlin puts a new spin on a classic hymn by adding the very powerful praise chorus "My Chains Are Gone." As always, Chris does a fine job of bringing a classic to the fore-front of the 21st Century.
6. The Modern March - Run Kid Run
Debuting this week, "The Modern March" is off of Run Kid Run's debut, 2006 album, This is Who We Are.
7. Be Still And Breathe - Ivoryline
Debuting this week, "Be Still And Breathe" is the first single release off of Ivoryline's debut, There Came a Lion. Hard hitting and straight to the point, this tune seems to snatch you up and demand that you listen.
8. East to West - Casting Crowns
This beautiful song, off of the latest Casting Crowns release, The Altar and The Door, is one of my favorites. The usual fare from Casting Crowns, "East to West" boasts deep, meaningful lyrics, a perfect blend on the vocals and sterling musicianship. After only four weeks in the Top 10, this song moved up to number one and it stayed there for 19 weeks.
9. Never Would Have Made It - Marvin Sapp
"Never Would Have Made It" is off of Marvin Sapp's seventh album, Thirsty, which hit stores last summer. With a voice that is as smooth as glass and the background vocals courtesy of Myron Butler & Levi, this motivational and moving song has everything going for it.
10. Declaration (This Is It!) - Kirk Franklin
Debuting this week, Kirk Franklin hits another home run with "Declaration (This Is It!)." Who else could mix Kenny Loggins with urban gospel and make it sound great?
